Private jet charter from Detroit to Aspen
The one route on this list where the airport, not the distance, decides which aircraft can take you. Aspen restricts aircraft by wingspan, by time of day and by performance.
Distances and block times are planning figures, not booking promises.
No cost, no obligation. Send the trip and the bag list and you will get aircraft options, the operating carrier named, and all-in pricing before you decide.
See your estimate first. Nothing is sent until you choose to send it.
Detroit to Aspen, priced by aircraft size
Estimated prices for the whole aircraft from Pontiac, including the 7.5% federal excise tax, at September 2026 rates. They assume an aircraft based in Michigan on an ordinary date; peak weeks run higher and a repositioning leg runs lower. Our advisory fee is a separate line on top.
| Aircraft size | Typical aircraft | Comfortable | Flying time | One way |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Light jet | Phenom 300E, Citation CJ3+ | 4–6 | 3h 00m | $17,000–$25,500 |
| Midsize | Citation XLS+, Hawker 900XP, Learjet 60 | 6 | 2h 55m | $19,000–$31,000 |
| Super-midsize | Challenger 350, Citation Latitude | 7–8 | 2h 50m | $28,000–$41,500 |
A one-way range is wide because it depends on how much of the aircraft’s empty flight home the operator charges. Staying a few days? Send both dates: the return is priced both ways, and often costs less per hour than two separate one-ways. How these numbers are built.
Want the real number? The form above already has PTK to ASE filled in. Add a date and the passenger count and you get actual aircraft, the operator’s price and our fee on separate lines.

Aspen’s restrictions, in detail
Aspen sits at 7,820 feet in mountain terrain with a steep approach and a county noise ordinance. An aircraft that manages this route comfortably at sea level may not be legal or capable at the arrival. This is where a broker who has read the rules is worth having.
A 95-foot wingspan limit
Aspen restricts wingspan to 95 feet. That excludes the Global 7500 and several other large-cabin types outright, whatever their range or performance.
Field elevation of 7,820 feet
Aircraft must meet single-engine climb gradients for the altitude, and hot-day performance degrades further. Payload is genuinely limited here in a way it is not anywhere else on this list.
Daylight operations for most aircraft
Stage II and III aircraft may operate from 7am until thirty minutes after sunset by county ordinance. Stage III aircraft may operate from thirty minutes after sunset to 11pm, and no departures are permitted after 10:30pm.
Steep approach and crew currency
The LOC/DME-E approach requires specific crew currency. Not every crew qualified on the aircraft is qualified for Aspen, which narrows availability further in peak season.
What I would quote for this trip
Three starting points rather than a catalog. Which one fits depends on how many of you there are and what you are carrying — the baggage and runway comparison sets out the numbers for thirty-four aircraft.
Challenger 350
Inside the wingspan limit, strong high-altitude performance, and the hold for a ski group.
Citation XLS+
A common Aspen aircraft, and the short-field ability helps at altitude.
Phenom 300E
Efficient for four to six with skis, and well within every Aspen restriction.
Prices for each size are in the cost table above.
Send the route and the bag list. You will get real aircraft, the operating carrier named, and the full cost split into the operator’s price and my fee.

The return is the same trip in reverse, and it is often where the better pricing sits. We arrange Aspen to Detroit and Aspen to Pontiac as readily as the outbound — you do not need to be in Michigan to book it.
Two things make the return worth asking about separately. An aircraft that brought someone to Aspen has to get home, and an operator would rather sell that leg than fly it empty. When one lines up with your dates, a repositioning flight commonly prices 30% to 60% below the equivalent charter.
The second is that a one-way usually pays for the aircraft to reposition anyway. If you are going out and back within a few days, quoting it as a round trip often costs less per hour than two separate one-ways, because the aircraft stays with you instead of making four legs.
Either way, send both directions when you ask. Quoting the outbound alone hides the cheaper version of the same trip.

Detroit to Aspen
How long is the flight from Detroit to Aspen?
About 2h 55m in a midsize jet. The distance from Oakland County International (PTK) in Pontiac to Aspen/Pitkin County is roughly 1,080 nautical miles, which is nonstop for every aircraft we would normally quote on this route. Whether it is nonstop with your group and your luggage on your date is the question worth asking, because payload and winds both move that answer.
What does a private jet from Detroit to Aspen cost?
One way in a midsize jet, roughly $19,000–$31,000 including federal excise tax, at September 2026 rates. Higher than the distance implies, because the qualifying fleet is smaller and ski season concentrates demand into a few months. Eagle and Rifle are materially cheaper and worth pricing alongside.
Which airport should I fly from in Michigan?
Oakland County International (PTK) in Pontiac is the default for most of Southeast Michigan — the second busiest airport in the state, no airline terminal, and customs on the field. Willow Run and Detroit Metro both work, and Bishop International in Flint suits anyone north or west of the metro. The right answer is usually whichever is closest to your door.
Can I fly into a smaller airport near Aspen?
Often, and it is worth asking. Alternatives on this route include Eagle County (EGE), Rifle Garfield County (RIL), Grand Junction (GJT). The constraint is runway length and the aircraft’s performance on the day. Give us the address you are actually going to rather than the airport you assume you need.
Do you arrange Aspen to Detroit as well?
Yes. We arrange Aspen to Detroit and Aspen to Pontiac exactly as readily as the outbound, and you do not need to be in Michigan to book it. Repositioning flights show up in both directions, since an aircraft that brought someone out has to get home. Send both directions and we will price the round trip against two one-ways, which frequently costs less per hour.
Who operates the flight?
An FAA-certificated Part 135 air carrier. YAJ Jet Charter is an air charter broker — not a direct air carrier, and not in operational control of any aircraft. The operating carrier is named to you, with its certificate and insurance verified, before you sign anything.
